What has GlobeMed meant to you this semester?

My favorite GhU this year has been learning about the Mexico City Policy/”Global Gag Rule”. It is so meaningful to hear how legislation in the United States can affect countless women across the globe. It was fascinating to track the executive order throughout its history – learning how it was so clearly revoked and reinstated according to party lines. This GhU in particular resonated with me because legislation with a global impact on women’s health is directly in our hands as a nation. The best way to learn has been to acknowledge and understand both sides to the debate. I am so grateful that GlobeMed breaks down difficult topics and complex issues to provide me the terminology and facts to competently share this information with others and advocate for those without a voice.
